Project

  • Scaled-down Transmission Tower with Uneven-structural Legs

    Highlights / Achievements / Results

    • The blue curves are the experimental results and the orange curve are the numerical pushover curve.

    • The first model failed at a lower loading value compared to the other specimen, due to the smaller size of the bracing members. Torsional loading has more effect on the model compared to the lateral loading.

  • Scour Monitoring of Bridges in Taiwan

  • Smart Structural Control by Artificial Intelligence

  • Damage Quantification of 3D-printed Structure

  • Three-dimensional Structural Health Monitoring System

    Goals / Objectives

    • Accurately diagnose damaged floors and locations on a three-dimensional structure.

    Highlights / Achievements / Results

    • Only a set of reference signals is required to initially launch the SHM system.
    • Effective and reliable detection of damage condition and elevation.

  • Engineering Monitoring

    Goals / Objectives

    • Combine the smart control law with LCFD (Leverage-type Controllable Friction Damper) to efficiently reduce the response of the structure.

    Highlights / Achievements / Results

    • BGVC (Bi-Gradation Velocity Control).

    • Feedback of absolute velocity.

    • Reduce acceleration of the structural response compared to other control law.

  • Rapid Structural Response Evaluation System

    Goals / Objectives

    • Develop algorithms in predicting the PGA (Peak Ground Acceleration) and PFA (Peak Floor Acceleration.
    •  Exploit the observed characteristics in the variation of various modal parameters, and develop a novel SHM (Structural Health Monitoring).

    Highlights / Achievements / Results

    • SVM PFA prediction module.
    • Smart cell-phone alert system.
